Hastings F.A. Veterans Cup Final (14.12.2015)

Little Common Veterans 1 v Icklesham Casuals Veterans 2

The veterans retained the Hastings F.A. Veterans Cup with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Little Common Veterans at the Pilot Field on Monday evening.

Icklesham began the game well and went ahead in the 12th minute when Little Common keeper Kevin Pratt spilled Gavin Moor's shot and after a scramble in the area Mark Taylor toe-poked the ball into the net.

Little Common gradually got on top but good goalkeeping from keeper Roy McInnes, some solid defending and a long range shot striking the crossbar meant Icklesham went in at the interval with their lead intact.

The second half saw Little Common pile on the pressure creating a number of chances with Roy McInnes in the Icklesham goal continuing to be in inspired form along with some resolute defending. The Casuals forward line of Sacha Patterson and Karl Tarrant were always dangerous on the break. The constant pressure finally told with 8 minutes remaining when Duncan Jones left foot shot found the bottom corner of net.

With extra time looking on the cards it was Icklesham who struck back four minutes later when Pete Gumbrell won the ball in midfield before driving forward and playing in Sacha Patterson on the left who superbly lobbed keeper Kevin Pratt for the winner.

It was a battling all round team performance against a very strong Little Common side that saw captain Mike Beaumont lift the trophy with goalkeeper Roy McInnes the man of the match.

The winning team was - Roy McInnes, Steve Tytherleigh, Mark Stace, Dave Southall, Stuart Adams, Gavin Moor, Michael Beaumont, Mark Taylor, Sacha Patterson, Karl Tarrant, Pete Gumbrell. Subs - Paul Sully, Nigel Sellman, Vernon Deller.

Look out for reports in the Hastings Observer and the Rye Online News this Friday.

Robert Glazier (6th May 2015)

It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the death of Robert Glazier. Robert played 591 games for Icklesham Casuals between 1959 and 1986 scoring 91 goals leaving him sixth in the club all-time appearance records and one of only eight players to have played in more than 500 matches. He was leading scorer for the 2nd team in 1972-73 with 16 goals and was a member of the 2nd team who were runners-up in the Hastings League Lower Divisions Cup in the 1967-68 season. The thoughts of the club go out to Dale and his family.

Little Common Recreation Ground, Sunday 26th April

The veterans defeated Little Common Veterans 5-2 on the 26th April in the title decider to become the Hastings FA Veterans League champions for season 2014-15.

With 5 minutes of the half remaining Sacha restored the lead with a lovely turn in the box and shot into the roof of the net and completed his hat-trick just before the break with another fine finish.

Icklesham Casuals Veterans 3 v Sedlescombe Rangers Veterans 0

The Pilot Field - Monday, 20th April 2015

The veterans played a most enjoyable competitive but friendly game against Sedlescombe Rangers Veterans under floodlights at the Pilot Field on Monday, 20th April.

Sacha Patterson put Icklesham ahead mid-way through the first half when his long range effort slipped through the grasp of Sedlescombe keeper Julian Buss and into the net. Sacha doubled the lead before the interval when his shot from the left edge of the area found the roof of the net giving Buss no chance.

The scoreline was a little hard on Sedlescombe with Roy McInnes in goal making two superb saves either side of the break to maintain the two goal advantage. It was Martin Tytherleigh who made the game safe when his cross shot looped over Buss and into the net.

The veterans team was - Roy McInnes, Mark Stace, Tony Wallis, Wayne Partridge, Stuart Adams, Steve Tytherleigh, Nigel Sellman, Michael Beaumont, Sacha Patterson, Martin Tytherleigh, Robert Palmer. Substitutes - David Mayne, Andy Vickers, Bob Baker.

The match was used to raise both funds for and awareness of the project to build new changing facilities at the Recreation Ground in Icklesham and a successful evening added the tremendous sum of £400 to the amount raised to date. Icklesham Casuals would like to thank everyone who came along to watch the game and a massive thank you to Sedlescombe Rangers for their support and generosity.

The 1st team scorers were Sean Baker 2, Martin Tytherleigh, Jon Fitton, Nick Gooch and Connor Action while Joe Fraser, Dan Russell, Mason Maddox (penalty), Sam Garner and Aiden Head relied for the 2nds.

Thanks to efforts of Stuart Pearson the game raised £140 for the Icklesham New Pavilion Fund.

Wedding Congratulations (11.04.2015)

Congratulations and best wishes from the club to Phil and Jess following their wedding on Saturday, 11th April.

Quiz Night - Icklesham Memorial Hall - (Saturday, 14th March 2015)

The quiz on Saturday, 14th March was hosted by the Football Club and raised £350 for the new pavilion fund which was a great result. Thank you to everyone who supported the evening and to everyone who donated raffle prizes and bought raffle tickets.

A special thank you to Jo Stewart for running the quiz in Stuart's absence and to Marc our helper who did a great job giving out the papers.

Fifteen teams entered: The Thirty Something's set their stall out from the first round and were always in the top 3 throughout the evening, they were closely followed by Nobby's Nuts and 2nd XI, but in the end no one could catch them and they went on to win the evening.

A special mention to the Casualties team who obviously had their eyes on the chocolate bunny booby prize and maintained last place until the very end.

U18's at Albion in the Community - (18.02.2015)

A team of the clubs Under 18s took part in the Albion in the Community Tournament at Hastings Academy on Wednesday 18th February.

After winning one, drawing three and losing one of their group matches, three teams were level on points and a penalty shoot out was required to decided two of the semi-finalists. Two successful kicks out of three and two excellent saves from Luke Crisford in goal saw the side safely through. A goal from Joe Fraser along with an own goal gave them a 2-0 win in the semi-final.

The team were cruising at 3-0 in the final against a good Eastbourne Town side thanks to two goals from Joe Fraser and one from Tom Clare but despite then conceding two goals in a minute held on for a deserved victory.

Congratulations to the squad of Harry Smeed (captain), Luke Crisford, Nathan Sargent, Mason Maddox, Joe Fraser, Tom Clare and Ben Clare and also to Paul Barnett for organising the side.
